Purpose of Foundation
By establishing an education system to perform an education study through the medium of the medical information to surround it in associated with engineering, pharmacology and medicine field, United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences strives to train young scientists who can respond flexibly to the needs of national and social issues to diversity under the theme of drug discovery.
To this end, Gifu University which has engineering and medicine and Gifu Pharmaceutical University which has pharmacology are making a united effort to provide and share educational values, research opportunities, knowledge, and information through a multidisciplinary group of faculty members and professionals.
By doing so, the United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences will distinguish itself as a graduate school of the highest international quality in the fields of pharmaceutical science and medical information science with a program centered around the leading-edge disciplines of biomolecular chemistry, biofunctional control, bioresponse, and biology-based drug discovery, as well as the latest drug efficacy reports and patient information. The faculty and administration of United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences are confident that its educational system provides the best opportunities for students to grow into foresighted and flexible scientists, and accumulate and send scientific information related to medical information drug discovery achievements for society.

| March 20, 2007 | The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology signs an agreement to collaborate and cooperate with the UGS-DDMIS. |
| April 1, 2007 | The UGS-DDMIS opens its doors with two Ph.D. programs in Medicinal Sciences and Medical Information Sciences. |
| April 7, 2007 | The first entrance ceremony is held. |
| May 18, 2007 | A commemorative ceremony is held to mark the opening of the UGS-DDMIS. |
